Spare Shooting



Please follow the safety requirements below before trying any of the challenges:
  1. Parent or guardian supervision is required
  2. Only complete challenges that you are comfortable with.
  3. Make sure you have a safe, open space around you so you don’t trip over anything
  4. Make sure you use the equipment outlined in each challenge safely and check that the equipment works properly before you use it
  5. Only use equipment that you are comfortable with.
  6. Remember, there are equipment modifications for each challenge!
  7. Follow the instructions in each video to ensure you are safely completing the challenges before attempting them on your own
  8. Ensure you are wearing proper footwear, stay hydrated, and most importantly have fun!

What Are We Doing? Out of 10 shots how many times can you knock down 2 targets?

Where Should We Do It? Driveway, sidewalk, long hall (with permission)

What Do We Need? Two 'pins' (toilet paper rolls), a ball (softball, tennis ball) and something to mark your throw line

How Should We Set Up? place your 'pin' 1 foot apart, take 10 BIG steps away from your targets and mark your throw line

 

How Do We Do It?

1) From your throw line roll the ball towards your targets and try to knock both down

2) Repeate the step above 10 times

3) Each time you knock one of the targets down give yourself 1 point

Scoring: Combine the total number of times you knocked down one of the targets. If you missed 5 times (0), knocked 1 target down 7 times (7) and knocked both targets down 3 times (6) your total point score would be 0+7+6=13

What Are We Doing? Attempting to roll a ball over a 3x3 target from 5 meters away

Where Should We Do It? Driveway, Sidewalk, long hall (with permission)

What Do We Need? sticky note or tape, softball/tennis ball/ rolled up socks, something to mark your throwing line (chalk, tape)

How Should We Set Up? set your sticky note down (or create a 3 inch x 3 inch square out of tape), take 5 BIG steps away and mark your throwing line

How Do We Do It?

1) From your throw line roll your “ball” 10 times, try to get it to roll over your target

2) Keep track of how many times the ball rolls over the target

3) Give yourself a point for each time it rolls over the target

Scoring: Add up the number of times you ball rolled over your target and submit your total


Balance Challenge

What Are We Doing? Seeing how long you can can hold your finish lunge position

Where Should We Do It? Driveway, sidewalk, backyard, inside in an open space

What Do We Need? Stopwatch or timer app on your phone

How Should We Set Up? Make sure your area is clear of tripping and slipping hazards

How Do We Do It?

1) Get ready to get into the finish lunge position: throwing arm is up like you just let go of the bowling ball, back leg is straight behind you and front leg is bent

2) Start your timer

3) Hold your lunge position for as long as you can without moving

Scoring: Submit the length of time that you held the position for


Healthy Athletes Ten Pin Challenge


Challenge #1


Wellness Challenge: Put on sunscreen before going outside to participate in challenge #2. Take a photo of your sunscreen to submit.

Fitness Related Challenge: Do these exercises as your bowling event warm up: 10 toe touches, 10 arm stretches and 10 squats. Submit a photo of you touching your toes.
